To Notice Beauty in Others

Monday, December 17th, 2007

One year I wanted to do something special for our sisters. I suggested that each one write down what she thought was beautiful in her sister and her community. I asked each sister to send her answer to me.

A thousand letters arrived. Just imagine! The sisters were surprised that someone would notice such beautiful things in them, that there was someone who was able to see them. All of this fostered a beautiful spirit of love, understanding, and sharing.

If we would be more willing to see the good and beautiful in others we would be able to transform our families. From there….. our neighborhood or city. We would be able to bring peace and love to our world, which hungers so much for these things.  Mother Theresa of Calcutta

We Rely on Social Contacts

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

We are about to enter the age of word of mouth, and that, paradoxically, all of the sophistication and wizardry and limitless access to information of the New Economy is going to lead us to rely more and more on very primitive kinds of social contacts.

Success as Fulfillment

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

We all want both success and fulfillment.  Success is often measured in external ways, but there’s an internal measure of success, and it’s called fulfillment…it doesn’t have to do with your job description of the specifics of your work.  It has to do with how you bring your self to your work.

Callings

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

It is bewildering to try to determine whether a call is “of God” or of some other source (better to) focus on whether a particular call has integrity or not, whether it makes us feel more or less authentic, more or less connected to ourselves and others, more or less right, not morally but intuitively.  Better to ask whether a call gives us a feeling of aliveness…
